MAPCAP Technology Ltd apart from offering expertise in the areas already listed, also specialises in actively supported Modified Atmosphere (MA) and Controlled Atmosphere (CA) Packaging.
This work is directed at the development of “active” pack atmosphere compensation, employing inclusion systems for MA/CA packaging applications, which are designed to replace those gases depleted by product activity and establish a constant “target” pack atmosphere, in order to allow the quality maintained extension of the shelf life of the products concerned.
The main application of this active packaging technology is with retail packed whole and prepared fresh produce, although recently its application has been extended to bulk packaging of produce in sea and land freight transit from production sources at significantly long transport times to the UK or other destinations.
In relation the above, MAPCAP Technology Ltd collaborates both with Onnic International Ltd in the use of ozone in both MA and CA packaging systems, and by extension of this, to other applications of ozone, both pre- and post pack, to fresh produce production and with EMCO Packaging Systems. in the use of pack and environmental gas analysis and the manufacture of active pack inclusions.
